CoreWeave Maintains Single-Provider Stance Amid AI Capacity Delays
CoreWeave executives deflected scrutiny about Core Scientific's role in delaying AI infrastructure deployment, insisting the bottleneck stems from one data center provider. The cloud computing firm's CEO Mike repeatedly emphasized "a singular data center provider" during earnings calls and CNBC interviews, despite analyst pressure to acknowledge multiple affected sites.
JPMorgan's Mark Murphy directly questioned whether CORE Scientific caused the setbacks, referencing facilities in Texas, Oklahoma and North Carolina. CoreWeave's attempted $9 billion acquisition of Core Scientific collapsed earlier this year when shareholders rejected the deal. Core Scientific shares dropped 10% following the earnings call disclosures.
CFO Nitin Agrawal contradicted the single-site narrative slightly by referencing issues with "a single provider, data center provider partner." The company maintains 41 data centers in its operational portfolio, with construction teams reportedly working daily alongside Core Scientific contractors to resolve delays.
